The Program in Brief
This course is designed to prepare participants for all challenges they will encounter as members of the industry. Upon completion of this program a person will have the skills and knowledge to effectively handle a variety of key roles. The programs elements will provide participants with the competencies they need to become effective service providers in the travel industry, capable of facilitating all aspects of clients’ travel needs.
Some key knowledge areas to be covered include, but are not limited to:
• Industry framework, including any government regulations industry participants must abide by or major industry associations subscribed to by its participants.
• Industry related certifications and career paths
• Roles and responsibilities particular to the industry’s service provider categories and how they relate
• Product & Service development concerns unique to travel and tourism
• Customer Relationship Management principles.
The Type of Program Participant Who Would Benefit Most:
Anyone interested in pursuing a key administrative support role with aspirations of eventually moving into a managerial position in a small to medium sized organization in the travel and hospitality industry would be well served by this course..
Prerequisites:
Grade 12 or equivalent and the ability to work with diverse people, numbers and in a fast paced environment and some previous exposure to computers and operating systems like Windows would be ideal.

Participants can expect to be continuously challenged by way of demanding assignments and projects aimed at helping them build high level skills. Some labs/assignments/projects to be expected.

  Institute of Travel Certification (CITC)
